Where It All Began

It is thought to believe that Henry Hudson was born in London, England. It is still unsure about what year he was born but it was somewhere very close to the early 1570's. Since he was an English Sea Explorer and a navigator his father could have been a sea captain or a merchant. One of his ancestors named too Henry Hudson helped start the Muscovy Company. His interest in seas began in 1607, when he was hired in the Muscovy Company. His main quest was to find a waterway from Europe to Asia. He had 2 failed attempts, one in 1607, and one in 1608. From that moment on his career began.

 Accomplishments

Have you ever heard of the Hudson Bay, Hudson River, or the Hudson Strait? What do they all have in common? The word Hudson, they are all named after Henry Hudson. In 1607, he went looking for a faster way to get from England to Far East. He sailed to the New York Bay in 1609 and explorered what is now known as the Hudson River. He also went on a voyage in 1610, but sadly that was his last voyage.

This is a picture of the Hudson River which is one of the three things that Henry Hudson is named after.

His 1607 Voyage

Henry Hudson went on many voyages. His first voyage was in 1607. He went on this voyage because it was part of his job. As mentioned before his main quest was to find a faster way from England to far East. Even though he did not succeed at his quest he did make very important discoveries. Despite of him having a specific goal he didn't worry to much about it. His mind was on other things and other expectations. He also sailed further north than any other explorer during his time. This picture shows Henry Hudson's  first voyage in 1607.

              His 1608 Voyage

Henry Hudson's second voyage was in 1608. He was still on the same boat, same company, and as once again no luck. This time he went looking for a Northeast passage through the Arctic waters. After two failed attempts the company had no other choice but to fire him. Even though he was fired Henry Hudson always admired the Muscovy Company. He admired it because this was the start of all the great things Henry Hudson did.
